Location: Redbridge Drama Centre, South Woodford
Setting: Corridor and Drama Room
Props Used: Radio
Costume: Black leather trousers, white 'rock n roll' tshirt
Shots Filmed: Mick Jagger walking towards the stage, slowly show his identity, turning on the radio.
Evaluation: To start the day off, we were not prepared to do any filming however due to technical errors we had to so that we had some sort of footage and we can kickstart out project! Fortunately, our main actor was free to help us film, so I ticked off the shots we could do which involved just that actor, however, there was very few shots, as most of out shots involve quite a lot of people as it is a lively and up tempo song. However, we tried to ring a stage but they didnt pick up. We had to bare in mind that we only had a few hours to film so we had to think quick. Fortunately, me and Louise can drive so we drove to hall with a stage that we thought would be a reasonable price however, after speaking to the caretaker of The Hawkey Hall, he said it would cost £2000 for 8 hours, this is way out of our budget! We were put in to a difficult position as we had to quickly find another stage which would be reasonable for us, however we wanted the stage to look professional. Once we all picked up all of the props needed we began our search for a stage! We drove around for about an hour and a half and then finally we found a place! I picked up the main character and we drove to The Redbridge Drama Centre.
Me and Stephanie arrived after Louise and Bijal as we had to pick up the main character, so Bijal and Louise had already decided where we were going to film the corridor shots. Once Christian became Mick Jagger we began filming! Me and Louise filmed the shots that we had storyboarded however, we also wanted to experiment and try some other shots so that we could have more footage to decide on when editing. We filmed Christian holding the radio on his shoulder, we got this idea as we have seen previous music videos do this technique, however we also filmed Christian just holding the radio normally in his hand. It may not seem like a big deal, however, every shot we had to repeat with this scenario so that it would be continuous.
Once we filmed the corridor sequence, we decided that we would have to film in a blacked out room where 'Mick Jagger' would have to turn on the radio, as we borrowed the radio from the drama centre we wouldnt be able to borrow it again so obviously for this shot it would have to be the same radio. We asked the man, and went upstairs to a drama studio which was perfect for our shot.
The complication we faced however, was that the camera was running out of battery fast so we had to be quick when making decisions on how to shot it, as it was running out of battery the picture was becoming more blurry. We tried our best, and was happy with the result.
We felt we captured some really good footage, and I personally was really pleased with the outcome as we tried different techniques and experimented with different shots. We still followed the storyboard however we added in extra shots to get more variety of shots.
However, due to complications, we were very upset to hear that our footage has been lost, we found out after our second day of filming and I am gutted as I was so happy with it. We don't know how it got lost, but our plan is to ring up the drama centre again and try to remember some of the shots we added in, and hopefully the footage won't be lost this time!
